Capturing children in photography is no easy task. We all want that perfect picture of the little munchkin smiling or doing something special.
Just last week I did a photo shoot with my own 12 month old. Wow what a task at getting him to sit or stand still in one place long enough to take the photo. I managed to take a couple really good ones. How did I do it you ask???
Well the key I found is to let them go their own way and do their own thing and you as a photography move around with them. The most precious photos in my eyes as a fellow photographer is to capture the photo that is natural and one that you don't have to make the little guy stay put for any length of time. Most importantly have fun with the kids and show them they don't need to be nervous around you.
Tips for shooting kids:
Bring stickers or suckers for after the photo shoot to bribe good behavior
Let them be themselves
Have fun and shoot natural pictures with them not paying attention, and most importantly
SMILE... no kid likes a grumpy person in their face
Below is my favorite picture I captured that day....
